Dinner and a Diva: Pagliacci

Join us and the Capitol City Opera Company on Tuesday, May 21st, for Dinner and a Diva: a night of delicious food and performances from Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci.

Pagliacci is pure Italian opera – big, melodramatic, passionate, but with light and sparkle in the orchestra, particularly in moments of humour. The opera centers around a company preparing for the final rehearsal studio run of an opera. Director Canio is eaten up with jealous suspicion of his wife, leading lady Nedda, who, it turns out, is having an affair with another man – Silvio (the opera’s conductor). The couple plan to escape together, but their secret is discovered by Tonio (the opera’s designer), who has himself been rejected by Nedda. In revenge, he informs Canio of what he knows. Despite simmering tensions, the studio run goes ahead and the performers each take up their characters, which all mimic their real-life situations. It’s all too much for Canio. Art and reality blur and things quickly spiral out of control, towards Pagliacci’s bloody conclusion.”

Murder, Mystery, and Mayhem Show

The event showcases unique, original, hilarious murder mysteries with live actors and audience participation, paired with a four-course dinner of fine French food. Shows run on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. (check-in from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m). The cost per person is $75 plus tax and gratuity. Seating is family-style, so guests get a chance to sit with the star of the show. See the complete menu here.

New show NCI-SVU-BROOKHAVEN runs through June 22nd.

Everything in the tiny hamlet of Brookhaven, Georgia seems to be perfect. There are neighborhood bars, mom-and-pop restaurants, over-priced but cozy coffee shops, and the schools are above average according to Overall Niche*. That is... until the unthinkable happens. Murder. A murder so large there’s only one group of special agents that can help solve the case. The NCIs. The Nonsensical Criminal Investigators. Oh, and the other group, the SVUers. The Strange Victims Unit. So I was wrong before. There’s two groups. Only TWO groups of Special Agents that can help solve the case. NCI, led by Supervisory and Spectacular Special Agent Jethro Stapler, and SVU, led by the breathtaking Mariska Take-Your-Breath-Away have been called in to try and work together. Can they put their egos and bureaucracy aside JUST THIS ONCE to help find the killer and do something that might actually help the community? Well, if it’s like any other government agency, the answer is probably no. But we’ve got our fingers crossed. Join Jethro and Mariska as they take you on an unbelievable and wholly unrealistic night of Murder, Mystery and Mayhem at Petite Violette!

live entertainment

Every Friday evening, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., join us for a swinging soirée as Jazz guitar master, Dan Coy, leads a unique, acoustic instrumental group which specializes in Parisian-style jazz standards, Django Reinhardt songs, romantic ballads, and waltzes. The accordion (Gabe Granitz), guitar (Dan Coy) & bass (Mark Bynum) trio authentically reproduces the ambiance of a French bistro for your dining experience.

Saturday nights, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., it's the solo stylings of Berne Poliakoff, accompanied by her guitar. Enjoy this live music with dinner and drinks in the dining room or sips and snacks at the bar. There's something for everyone, and she welcomes requests!
