Our next Dinner and a Diva, on Tuesday, October 17, will bring you highlights from Donizetti's darkly beautiful work Lucia di Lammermoor. The program will include the well-known sextet "Chi mi frena in tal momento," as well as other haunting and beautiful compositions which make this opera a jewel in the Italian opera repertoire.

In addition to Engel, the program features one of our largest casts for the year. It includes Jennifer Alynn-Perri as Lucia; Gus Godbee as Enrico; Yilam Sartorio as Edgardo; Amanda Perera as Alicia; Pedro Carreras as Normanno; and Ivan Segovia as Raimondo. The Company’s music director, Catherine Giel, will be the accompanist.
Written in 1835 and set in Scotland, this opera focuses on an emotionally fragile Lucia who is caught in a feud between her family and an opposing family. Forced to abandon her true love to marry someone chosen for her, she goes mad (one of opera's most famous ‘mad scenes’) and takes violent revenge on her new husband.
The dinner event includes premium hors d’ oeuvres, fresh salad, choice of two gourmet entrees, decadent dessert, coffee/tea, and two glasses of fine wine, for only $60 per person (tax included; gratuity separate). The performers from the Capitol City Opera Company sing between each course.
