Dinner and a Diva: Le nozze di Figaro

Dinner and a Diva: Le nozze di Figaro

Join us and the singers from Capitol City Opera Company on Tuesday, October 18th and Thursday, October 20th for Dinner and a Diva: a night of gourmet food and wonderful performances from Wolfgang Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. Your dinner includes: hors d’ oeuvres, salad, choice of two entrees, dessert, coffee/tea, and two glasses of wine, for $75 per person (plus taxes and fees). Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar open at 6:15 p.m., and the dinner and show start promptly at 7:00 p.m.

Le nozze di Figaro takes place in the palace of the Count Almaviva, near Seville. Susanna, the Countess Almaviva’s chamber maid, and Figaro, the Count’s personal valet, are preparing for their wedding. But their marriage could be spoiled by the advances of the Count who is determined to seduce the bride-to-be. With the help of the Countess, who has been neglected by her philandering husband, Figaro and Susanna must use all their imagination to outsmart Almaviva, avoid the traps laid by Marcellina, Bartolo and Basilio, and take advantage of Cherubino’s awkward attempts at romance. Punctuated by a series of improbable events, which evolve into touching moments of melancholy, the Day of Madness will see each mask fall one by one, revealing the true nature of the wearer’s heart.”

Clairmont Road: Atlanta’s other international restaurant row

Buford Highway is beloved, but don't overlook this cultural journey

BY CHRISTIANE LAUTERBACH -

This story is part of Atlanta magazine’s Streets Issue—a block-by-block exploration of our city and the stories it tells.

It starts on the Decatur Square and ends at Peachtree Boulevard; at Scott Boulevard, its name changes from Clairemont Avenue (as the original developer, whose daughter was named Claire, intended) to Clairmont Road. For those traveling from the southeast side of town, it’s a shortcut to Buford Highway; a route to the Atlanta Greek Festival, held in September at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation; and an overall enlightening cultural journey amid many international businesses and places frequented by the gourmet crowd.
