Stephanie Belcher, owner/manager of Violette, passed away

Stephanie Belcher, owner/manager of Violette, passed away

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Stephanie Belcher, longtime manager and owner of Violette, has passed away suddenly. She was recovering from illness and improving dramatically, when she took a turn for the worse and was unable to be revived last Monday night. We will pass along more details as they become available. We remember Stephanie fondly and hope to honor her by carrying on her legacy with Petite Violette. In lieu of flowers, Stephanie's family requests donations be made to the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center's Scholarship Program, in Stephanie's name. Go to Callanwolde.org, click on "giving", then on "donate" and "donate here". Then, specify that this is for the scholarship program. Many thanks in advance for honoring Stephanie.

Dinner and a Diva--Bizet's Pearl Fishers

Dinner and a Diva--Bizet's Pearl Fishers

Our next Dinner and a Diva event, a three-course meal paired with wine and a performance, takes place Tuesday, March 21, and features highlights from Bizet's The Pearl FishersFew operas can match the sheer lyric beauty of Bizet’s youthful The Pearl Fishers. At its premiere, audiences were swept up in the ravishing score tinged with the allure of a mythical South Asian setting. The drama itself remains within the conventional standards of the day, with a love triangle complicated by the true friendship of the two men involved in it. Unlike Bizet's later more well-known work, Carmen,  The Pearl Fishers lingers in beautiful melodies and atmospheres. If you are unfamiliar with this work, you will be certain to discover a new favorite! Performers from Capitol City Opera Company include: Julia Metry, soprano; Jose Caballero, tenor; Benjamin Moore, baritone; and Grant Jones, piano. Hors d'oeuvres and cash bar served at 6:30 p.m.; program starts at 7 p.m. Reservations are required at 404-634-6268.
